I have an enviable position at Leadership Network. We are privileged to work with the leaders of innovative churches in the U.S., Canada and Europe. We get to talk to lots of these leaders. We get to hear and see what they are doing.
Over 50 times a year we gather selected groups of these leaders at meetings where we explore with them in depth on various strategic issues. Many people ask us what we learn from all those conversations.
For 2011 we decided to summarize some of the key trends, waves and contours of the current scene for innovative churches. Each month different members of our staff will release a report on a frontline topic where we have done some research, thinking and exploring.
These reports will serve as summary thoughts in short, provoking ways. Each month we will offer a variety of resources on the topic including an article in Leadership Network Advance, a brief paper, a podcast and video. They will all cover the same material but you can select the format you feel is best for you.
We hope that you will read, watch or listen and then respond with your own learnings on the topic via this blog space. Each time we post something it will be in this space and the comments line will be open.
January’s Theme
For January we are leading off with the topic of Global Connection Churches and my friend Dr. Eric Swanson is leading this tour. Eric works with our Global Connection Leadership Community in this area but has also done great work through his travels to other countries and his doctoral work in this field.
Every era of the Western church has had to redefine what it means by “missions” and we are currently engaged in another revolution there. Eric gives us some contours in his upcoming report, suggesting implications for local churches like yours and mine.
So watch this space and if you have not subscribed to Leadership Network Advance to get the newsletter twice each month, click here to do so.
Redesign
And by the way, Advance will also have a new look and a new distribution system. We hope you find it even more helpful, and if for some reason you don’t receive it from our new sender, please click the link above to resubscribe.
This is amazing brother - you are blessed. It seems so outlandish that you would think it is satire - esp the part about Jerry 'having his facts a little off' - that can't be true!
