Last year when we did THE NINES (http://thenines.leadnet.org) we only had one way to register. We expected about 2000 people to sign up.
We got over 10 times that. In fact, we broke the registration system the weekend before.
We also made a decision NOT to broadcast and share the schedule beforehand.
We had two thoughts there. One was we really didn’t know the schedule until the day before. We were still compiling the notes and rearranging things up until a few hours before.
And secondly, we wanted to mix in people you know and people you don’t know but should know in the lineup. The spirit of the event was to listen to all types of people.
In our feedback survey we got a few people who said – “I wasted the day because I really only wanted to hear (their favorite three speakers) and I had to listen to everyone to hear them. If I had known when (their favorite three) were speaking, I would have just watched then.”
That sort of irked me. Mainly because my guess is the few that said that had already heard their favorite three numerous times. Where is the fun in that?
Those that attended last year will also know that we had a stream beside the video of notes from the speaker. Sort of a running commentary complete with the speaker’s twitter name, contact info and relevant points.
But that information starts to roll by fairly quick as we get moving and even though you can go back, then you might miss something new.
So, for our Aha! And SAGE conferences this year that were similar formats we tried a second idea.
Now we are still giving away all the conference, color commentary, interaction on September 9th for FREE. Just like last year. But we also now have TWO more “FREEMIUM” options for power users.
Our first option is called “Premium.” For that registration you get not only the full conference but a 100+ page, color conference book emailed to you the day before the conference.
The book has speaker bios, speaker notes, contact information, the rough order of presentation, discussion questions for groups and further resources. Those that have used the books in our other conferences this year have raved.
For $29, it’s a real steal. Where else can you attend a conference with 100 speakers and get all that?
But wait, there’s more as they say.
Thanks to our sponsors, Catalyst, Jossey-Bass and Zondervan we have some special discount coupons for our premium registrants for BIG discounts on materials that day.
Plus we have a free digital download of “Missional Church” materials we will be giving to all premium registrants as an added bonus.
And we are trying a new option as well which for now we are just calling “Gold”.
For that option you get everything the premium users get PLUS access to the videos after the conference so you can watch them again and again.
AND a free copy of “To Transform a City” by Eric Swanson and Sam Williams shipped straight to you the day it is released.
It’s $99 US. So that works out still to less than a $1 per speaker resource you will have access to for the conference.
I just got an invite for a business conference that is going to have an online option for watching and it is $350 just to watch with no additional resources or interaction.
So I think we have a good deal here. I know fewer will choose this gold option, but we did want to make it available to you.
So to summarize you can either:
- Come for nothing.
- Come and get a program book with notes and all sorts of other goodies for $29.
- Come and get all that plus archive access to the videos and a free book shipped to you during September for $99.
Choose what is right for your learning style. All very affordable.

I haven't looked in a while so not sure what's good at a moment. I don't want a TN panel but then again I'm not sure if 300-400 is wishful thinking for IPS
Anyway, any recommendations?
